About the Artist

Hello, and welcome to my site!
I have enjoyed making art of all kinds since I was a child. Over the years I have worked in coloured pencil, watercolours, acrylic, and even house paint used in the building of four different drama sets for my children's amateur theater group. My favorite medium at this time is graphite on paper. I love the detail and expression I can achieve, and the classic look of black and white.
I have long dreamt of making my living as an artist, and spending my days doing the creative work I enjoy so much. Indigo Cat sprang from that vision.
As a child I was fascinated with animals, and they were my favorite subjects to draw. If you had asked me my life's ambition at ten, I would have told you that I wanted to live in the forest with a pack of wolves! I think being unable to have pets where we lived only increased the obsession, and I spent time in the company of animals whenever I had the opportunity. My mother once had to exact from me a promise that I would not feed my sandwiches to the foxes again.
Since growing up, I have shared my home with several wonderful dogs and cats, plus some adorable rabbits, gerbils and mice. At present my "roommates" are two elegant tuxedo cats named Maestro and Daisy, and a goofy one year old Shiloh Shepherd named Nova. The three of them make a great team to provide me with love and companionship, enough fluff to knit another pet, and reminders to be tidy by actively destroying anything I leave within their reach.
My specialty is drawing graphite portraits of your beloved pets. I aim to capture not only their likeness, but also a reflection of their spirit and the special bond you share. My favourite part of drawing is that moment when my subject suddenly "comes to life" on paper. I also find it deeply gratifying when my client loves their finished portrait, and I know I have added joy to their life.
Thanks for visiting! Please contact me if you would like to discuss a commission. I would be delighted to create something special for you.
